Choose a world area, estimate the chunks ahead, and prepare the commands to generate it. Add a measured rate to see what the job could take.
01 / Choose the area
Plan one dimension at a time. Radius is the distance from the center to the edge, in blocks.
Run a small test in this world first. Leave these at 0 if unknown; generation speed and chunk size vary too much to guess.

Generation competes with players for resources. Watch disk and tick time while it runs; chunky pause pauses the task, and chunky continue resumes it.
A Chunky selection is a generation area, not a player movement limit. Configure a world border separately if you want players to stay inside it.

A little help before you launch
How the estimate works, and how to apply the commands.
Have a question of your own? Our team is here to help.
Ask our team (opens in a new tab)Or explore the guidesNo. The planner divides the selection’s area by 256 blocks per chunk and rounds up. Exact counts depend on chunk alignment and how the generator includes boundary chunks. It is a scale estimate, not a count read from your world.
They require measurements from your own world. A small generation test gives you a representative chunks-per-second rate and disk growth per chunk. Terrain, mods, hardware and existing chunks can change both.
No. Copy the generated commands into your console after installing Chunky and reviewing the target world. The final command starts generation. Use chunky pause to pause and chunky continue to resume.
No. It selects the area Chunky should generate. Configure your movement boundary separately if you want players to stay within that region.
Yes. Select the actual loaded world name and appropriate radius for that dimension, and measure that dimension separately. This tool does not convert radii between dimensions.
