Game servers on our published plans are provisioned automatically once your order completes, so most of the work is deciding what you need before you order.
- Pick your game from the catalogue and choose a plan by memory size.
- Choose the region closest to most of your players — this matters more than any other setting.
- Complete checkout. Your server is created and appears in the game panel.
- Open the panel, set your server software and version, then start the server.
- Watch the console until it reports that startup is complete.
- Share your server address with your players.
How much memory to choose
Vanilla or lightly modded servers for a small group are fine on 2 to 4 GB. Plugin servers with a steady population are comfortable at 6 to 8 GB. Heavy modpacks and large survival maps start at 8 GB and go up from there.
If you are unsure, it is easier to move up a tier later than to fight a server that is short on memory from day one.
